The start of a new year usually brings resolutions, and clean slates.

The Florida Humanities Series at The Emerson Center in Vero Beach is underway!

It’s a FREE, fun and informative learning experience… focused on all things Florida. 

Next up in the Series is a holiday concert called “Christmas and All That Jazz,” by the Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society on Thursday December 13.

We dropped in on them at one of their recent Tuesday night black box jam sessions… at Sunrise theatre in Fort Pierce.

It’s that “most wonderful time of year” where every school in America is preparing a holiday musical program for the community.

In Vero Beach, Saint Edward’s School is preparing their Festival of Lessons & Carols for December 6th. It’s free and open to the public.

We dropped in on a rehearsal with 8 of the 45 total singers who will perform. They had just started their vocal warmups.

A Day in the Life of the Indian River Lagoon

Last month, 1500 students ranging from elementary to high school, descended upon the Indian River Lagoon, testing water quality, and taking count of plants and animals, as part of a-multi county event called A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE INDIAN RIVER LAGOON.

MW: “Such a nice way to have an impact on so many different students at one time and to give them the opportunity to get their hands wet, feet dirty, collect that authentic scientific data.”

A simple idea and swift action by two soccer moms is about to help a lot of kids in Puerto Rico.

LR: “I had this idea because both my kids – I have 6-year-old twins (who) play soccer at IRSA”

That’s Vero Beach native Laura Radocaj talking about the Indian River Soccer Association. She and fellow soccer mom Stephanie Dilella are collecting and about to ship an over-abundance of soccer uniforms to Puerto Rico, where hundreds of children who want to play soccer are ready to receive them!

Three-year-old Preslie is in stable condition after being shot in the head early Sunday morning during a road rage incident.  Police are looking for a dark sedan, possibly a BMW in connection with this incident.  There is a five thousand dollar reward.  To pass on a tip, call Port St. Lucie Police Detective Aisha Hardison at 772-871-7324 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS (8477).

So, when our own WQCS News Director Jill Roberts recently came across a sign promoting an Indian River Hauntings Ghost Tour… naturally, we had to find out more!

This led straight to Larry Lawson ---
